The Go Packers Poolside pavilion demonstrates how a thoughtfully designed pool house can transform an outdoor space into a true summer gathering hub. Poolside structures like this one often become the center of activity during the warmer months, offering shade, comfort, and entertainment features that encourage homeowners and guests to spend more time outdoors.
In this project, the pavilion was designed to provide cool shade during hot summer days while also functioning as an entertainment space for family and friends. Integrated features such as a sound system, lighting, and a television that swivels into viewing position for game day gatherings allow the space to transition easily from daytime relaxation to lively evening events. Whether it is a quiet afternoon by the pool or a football game celebration, the pavilion provides a comfortable setting for social gatherings.
The architectural design centers around a hip roof structure, which maintains a relatively low exterior profile that blends well with the surrounding neighborhood. This roof form allows the pavilion to remain visually unobtrusive while still creating a generous sheltered space beneath. From the inside, the hip roof reveals a rich display of exposed timber framing, allowing guests to appreciate the craftsmanship and natural beauty of the wood structure overhead.
One of the most visually striking elements of the design is the use of extended roof overhangs at the ends of the structure. These overhangs project approximately 64 inches outward, creating dramatic shadow lines while providing additional protection from sun and light rain. The overhangs are structurally supported by 6 × 10 timber braces, which add both strength and architectural character to the frame.
These extended roof edges also contribute to the overall comfort of the space. By projecting further outward, the overhangs provide increased shade coverage throughout the day, reducing direct sun exposure around the seating area and helping maintain a cooler environment during peak summer temperatures.
To further improve usability, the pavilion includes a powered retractable fabric screen that can be lowered when needed. This screen provides protection from wind and late afternoon sunlight, which can otherwise shine directly into the poolside seating area. When lowered, the screen creates a more sheltered environment while still maintaining airflow and visibility toward the pool and surrounding yard.
This feature is especially appreciated during game day gatherings, when glare from the sun could interfere with viewing the television. The retractable screen helps maintain clear viewing conditions while preserving the open outdoor feel of the pavilion.
The Go Packers Poolside project highlights how timber frame pool houses can significantly enhance outdoor living spaces. By combining durable timber construction with entertainment focused features and thoughtful shading solutions, the pavilion creates a space that is both functional and visually appealing.
Through the use of exposed timber framing, extended roof overhangs, and adaptable comfort features, the structure becomes much more than a simple shelter. It evolves into a lively outdoor destination where family and friends gather to enjoy summer days, evening events, and memorable game day celebrations by the pool.
