  • The Spa Pool House pavilion is designed as a multifunctional outdoor living structure that blends recreation, relaxation, and architectural craftsmanship within a semi rural setting. Surrounded by open landscape and natural views, the structure serves as the centerpiece of a thoughtfully planned pool environment where family and guests can gather throughout the year.

One of the defining elements of the project is the custom designed pool layout, which integrates several features into a cohesive outdoor experience. A raised hot tub positioned above the main pool creates a striking focal point while allowing water to cascade gently downward in the form of a waterfall flowing into the pool below. This feature not only enhances the visual character of the space but also adds a soothing sound element that contributes to the relaxing atmosphere of the pool area.

The pool house itself is designed to support both everyday use and social gatherings. A dedicated dining area and bar are positioned to provide full views across the pool, allowing guests to remain connected to the outdoor activity while enjoying meals and refreshments. This arrangement encourages interaction between those in the pool and those relaxing within the covered pavilion.

Above the main gathering area, the structure incorporates large loft spaces located at each end of the building. These loft areas serve practical purposes such as storage for pool equipment, outdoor furniture, and seasonal items. They also provide additional space for recreation, making them suitable for games or informal lounging areas that overlook the pool environment below.

Structurally, the pavilion is built using Eastern white pine timbers, a species valued for its workability, stability, and warm natural appearance. The timber frame forms the visual and structural backbone of the building, with exposed beams and trusses that highlight the craftsmanship of traditional heavy timber construction.

A major engineering feature of the project is the use of shear ring reinforced timber trusses spanning 42 feet. Shear ring connectors increase the load bearing capacity of timber joints by distributing structural forces across a larger surface area. This reinforcement method allows the trusses to support significant roof loads while maintaining an open interior space free of intermediate columns. The result is a wide and unobstructed pool house interior that feels spacious and visually impressive.

The building also incorporates a south facing atrium, designed to function as a winter garden area. By orienting the atrium toward the south, the structure captures maximum sunlight during colder months, allowing plants and greenery to thrive even when outdoor temperatures drop. This feature extends the usability of the building beyond the swimming season and introduces a year round natural element within the structure.

The exposed interior timbers are finished with Sansin SDF stain in the “Teak” colour, which enhances the natural grain of the wood while providing protection against moisture and ultraviolet exposure. The warm tone of the finish complements the surrounding landscape and reinforces the inviting character of the interior space.

Construction of the pavilion was carried out by Razor Contracting, whose work helped bring together the architectural vision and structural engineering of the project. Through careful detailing and precision timber framing, the Spa Pool House demonstrates how timber frame poolside structures can combine recreation, architectural elegance, and durable construction within a cohesive outdoor living environment.

Together, the pool features, timber structure, and landscaped surroundings create a space that supports relaxation, social gatherings, and year round enjoyment of the outdoor environment.
